Our Philanthropy
At the heart of the Burns Society of the City of New York is a commitment to philanthropy, reflecting the enduring spirit of Robert Burns’ compassion and belief in the dignity of all people. Our charitable endeavors support scholarships for students who study the Bard’s works, as well as historic preservation efforts that honor his legacy. From funding educational opportunities to contributing to the restoration of historic sites in New York CIty and Scotland, we take pride in giving back to the community and ensuring that Burns' message of humanity, justice, and brotherhood continues to inspire future generations.

Education & Scholarships
The Burns Society is dedicated to fostering the study and appreciation of Robert Burns’ works among future generations. Through our Robert Burns Essay Scholarship program, we award students who demonstrate a deep understanding of Burns’ literary legacy through essays and academic excellence. Additionally, we collaborate with local high schools to promote Scottish literature, ensuring that Burns’ timeless poetry and themes of equality, justice, and human connection remain relevant and accessible.

Historic Preservation & Cultural Heritage
The Burns Society of the City of New York honors and sustains the legacy of Robert Burns through active preservation of historical and cultural heritage, including restoring the Burns Monument in Alloway, maintaining the Robert Burns statue in Central Park, and restoring various historical artifacts such as the Tall Case Clock from his sister’s home. These initiatives ensure that Burns’ cultural impact remains vibrant for future generations.
